“Everybody: seriously, MEGAFAUN” So tweeted John Hodgman back in March, when Megafaun was on the road with the Mountain Goats and just out of the studio where they made the album that would bathe us all in sunlight come September. The love continues between Megafaun and Hodgman, and the lucky people of Megafaun’s hometown of Durham will get to see them on stage together tonight. This special engagement, part of John Hodgman’s book tour, kicks off a string of Megafaun dates across the Southeast:
Our song “Second Friend” will be featured on tonight’s episode of “Revenge” on ABC! Additionally, the song will be available for free download on ABC’s Music Lounge, beginning tonight at 10p EST. Check your local listings for airtime info!
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the European and North American shows over the past several weeks! It was an awesome whirlwind that started in Amsterdam and wrapped up a month and a half later in San Diego. Whew! It’s been such an honor to share this new album with all of you.
We’d also like to extend a big thanks to our wonderful openers/kindred souls: Doug Paisley, Hi Ho Silver Oh, Matt White, Perry Wright, and Cat Martino! Such special vibes.
We’re excited to announce that, after a few weeks of family time at home, we’ll be heading out for a mini-tour of the Southeast in November! Check out the dates below. Can’t wait to see you all:
To our wonderful fans and the fine folks of Seattle that had made a choice to support our band tonight:
We are forced to cancel our show tonight at the Tractor Tavern due to an emergency van repair. It is currently 1:20PM as we write this and we are rounding out hour six of repair in Twin Falls, Idaho. Unfortunately, we had to have a wheel bearing system repaired on our back right tire. There are several positive miracles that led us to a mechanic that was able to do it first thing this morning here in Twin Falls and that we were not subject to a more dire scenario (breaking down hundreds of miles from anywhere in the great American west), but the window to recover the time was narrow and not enough to ensure a safe repair.
In our five-year history of extensive touring, this goes down as the first cancellation we have ever made. We live off the opportunity to connect with fans and risk-takers every night as well as the thrill of playing with each other. It is what we live for. Hell, we still believed we could try to drive 11 hours and still try to play a later show. It just isn’t going to be a safe or productive reality this time around.
Please see Tractor Tavern for information regarding refunds and we promise to make it up to y’all as soon as humanly possible. (If you’re up for a road trip, we are still playing Vancouver and Portland).
We thank you greatly for your understanding and we’ll make it worth your wait.
Love, Phil, Brad, Joey, Nick, Doug, Jordan and Martin.
